Life size figurative sculpture
Rock singer Annie Lennox of Eurythmics
The life-size sculpture of singer ANNIE LENNOX was originally inspired by her personal and moving song 'When Tomorrow Comes' which recalls the sudden death of her husband. Permission was sought from her record label RCA to undertake the sculpture and pre-dates her come back in the mid 1990's. The intention was not to create a Madam Tussuad's replica but to go beyond the representational. The spots, stripes and heavily made up eyes are overstated to reflect the glitzy, often tawdry media world of television, film and newspapers in which pop stars move.
Above all, the sculpture is meant as a celebration of Annie both as a person and as an artist. It is currently exhibited at The Art Studio Gallery, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. The home town of Annie's long time Eurythmics collaborator Dave Stewart.
